Erecting the set for Sleeping Indoors - Osoyoos 2016/05/01

When a philanthropic housewife invites a homeless stranger into her home for the holidays, she and her family members find themselves re-evaluating their priorities, what makes a person "rich", and the definition of personal freedom. Thoroughly awkward, yet totally lovable characters will make you laugh, cry, and go home with a new perspective on sleeping indoors.

Cast and Characters
              in order of appearance

Diane Gludovatz: NORA is Paul's caring and dutiful wife. She has a fondness for strays of all kind, especially since their son, Nick has moved out in search of his independence from Nora's ever-present attention. Perhaps Dwain can help fill the void?
Diane always enjoys getting back onstage every now and then, if only to remind herself how much work learning lines and blocking is! When she's not onstage or behind the scenes, Diane can be found street walking. Wait, walking her dog on the streets! Diane has enjoyed playing Nora, although somewhat bittersweet. finding it a little close to art imitating life.

Trevor Leigh:
PAUL teaches American Literature and is the third most important book reviewer outside of New York City. He is busy with the pressures of work and is normally unaware of his home life minutia, such as Nora's growing cat population.
Trevor has performed in over a 150 productions in the theatre and film, in Canada and abroad. He was most recently seen in SOAP's production of Noises Off. As an actor and director he's had the pleasure of working from coast to coast from the Vancouver Playhouse to The Atlantic Theatre Festival and lots of places in between and has worked in Film and TV including most recently Hell on Wheels on the AMC Network and as Kiwi Gallagher in Everest a CBC Mini Series. He Was awarded the Victoria Critics Award and has been nominated three times for Betty Mitchell awards and was awarded the Most Outstanding Supporting Actor award twice.

Tom Szalay:
DWAIN is a long way from his home in Georgia, but has spent his life going wherever he has wanted to, ever since he was set free my his momma when he was only 6 years old. Although his "readin' ain't so good," his life story could be a literary masterpiece.
Tom has been with SOAP for 14 years. Assuming the role of Dwain in Sleeping Indoors marks his 10th onstage appearance in that time. Acting is only the tip of the iceberg for Tom, though. Sleeping Indoors is Tom's third set design, and he has mastered the lights and sound in our new venue. He recently directed Lend Me A Tenor by Ken Ludwig which was appreciated by the patrons and cast alike. He auditioned for Sleeping Indoors because four years hiding backstage was enough. This role in a comedy-drama has provided Tom with an interesting change from the straight up comedies SOAP typically stages, and he has enjoyed the challenge of maintaining Dwain's accent. He credits a great cast and crew for putting together a tight and witty show.

Aimee Grice:
NICOLE is Nora's younger and free-spirited sister. Though she has a warm and open heart, she remains worried about ending up alone. Nicole has a particular soft spot for any man who keeps calling her "Ma'am."
Aimee began acting in high school, and her love for theatre hasn't wavered since. She is never far from the stage and enjoys acting and singing. She has gladly sported many costumes varying from a nun's habit, (twice) to 80's era fully shoulder padded dresses to ball gowns, but funny enough always seems to be holding a glass of wine. After taking on the responsibility of producing “Noises Off", Aimee is thrilled to be able to "just play" in this show. The character Nichole is so much fun to play, seemingly free from inhibitions, and a total “hot mess" The cast and crew of Sleeping Indoors are fantastic to work with and it's a privilege to be a part of this production!
